Acapulco Nights 12/26/14, Memorial Tribute to Curtis Mayfield

This day 15 years ago we lost Curtis Mayfield. The American singer, guitarist, song writer, producer, record label owner, and activist, was one of the most influential artists in American funk and soul. In addition to his fame as a solo artist, and with his group The Impressions, he wrote and produced for many other artists, and ran the Curtom label. He was a major voice in the American civil rights movement, and penned theme songs to the black power movement. Studebaker Hawk plays his favorites from Mayfield's solo career.
